The real bottleneck

It's not motivation. It's not skill. It's not time. It's the absence of a forcing function between each step.

Without structure, every decision is open-ended. "Should I validate first? Who do I interview? What do I build?" Every open question is an invitation to go back to research mode.

What a forcing function looks like

A phase has three things:

  1. A single deliverable — one document, one artifact
  2. A clear entry — what from the last phase unlocks it
  3. A clear exit — what signals it's done

With forcing functions, you stop debating and start producing.
